Just a Dream [John+Oliver+Kida...]

Elena stared at the letter she was writing. There were tears marks upon the paper, she was in deep pain while she wrote. It said how much she was weak, that even waiting a baby, she couldn’t hold on the pain… Christian had promised he was coming back to her, why should she keep her promises too? She finally got some time alone to finish it once her mother left with Damon to buy some groceries.  Marina didn’t take her eyes from her since the funeral, she knew her daughter was in pain, and she wanted to be there for her, she wanted Elena to know that she could count on her, her family, and the Storms.

Elena knew it all, but the nightmares were getting worse, more realistic, and Elena was getting weaker day by day, the guilty was killing her inside. She had it planned for days, and she got the chance to end it that day. She walked quietly to the master bedroom, and went straight to the bathroom. She knew her mother had some calming pills that helped her sleeping. She was going to take it along with the alcohol she stole from Stefan’s room right before passing through the master room. She walked inside her room and closed the door, but didn’t lock it… She hadn’t seen her father, but if he had seen her, he wouldn’t see the little thefts she was carrying with her.

She took a deep breath, and took the folded flag and wrapped arms around the only thing left from Christian. She placed it on her side at the bed and rested her hands upon her belly. Her baby bump wasn’t visible yet, but she was there. ''I’m so sorry!'', Elena stammered down to her belly. ''But I can’t bring you into a world where your father doesn’t exist'', she cleaned the tears before taking the first pill… It didn’t take long, and she was already asleep… She took a last pill, and placed the glass of alcohol on the night stand before lying down on her bed. She would be free soon.

Marina and Damon got home an hour later. They placed the bags on the kitchen counter, and Marina walked into the living room.  She saw no sign of Elena or John. ''Where is everyone?'', she called, turning her gaze to Damon. The boy shrugged lightly, ''I don’t know''. Marina rolled his eyes and shook her head, ''Go find your father, I’m going to be at Elena’s room'', she said softly and went to see her daughter.

''Elena?'', she knocked upon the door, and since no one replied, she opened it. She peeked inside and saw Elena sleeping on the bed. She walked closer and sat by her side gently, to not wake her up. She looked so peaceful, so different from the last weeks. She brushed the hair from her forehead and leaned to place a motherly kiss upon it. It was when she knew something was wrong. She felt the scent of alcohol. Marina frowned, and then saw the flag and the small bottle of pills inside the tight grip of her fingers. Her heart sank, and she tried to check her pulsation. It was so weak that she couldn’t hold the tears, “Elena, listen to your mom… Please, wake up, my angel”, she pleaded while she held Elena’s limp body in her arms.

Damon found his father at the office. ''Hi dad!'', he greeted with a small smile, and as he was walking closer to the desk, he heard his mother calling for him, and then for his father. It wasn’t a normal calling, she was in pain, and crying. He tensed up, and got scared… Something really bad just happened.

John looked up from his desk and gave a grin towards Damon. "Hey there," he said softly. He started to ask where Rosie was before he heard Marina calling to him in that voice. He knew that tone. He pushed up from his desk and quickly jogged up to where he heard her. "Marina, what's..." he trailed off when he saw her there, holding Elena. Guilt swept over him. He was the only one home with her, and she'd done this. He'd been busy with work, and didn't notice his daughter. 

"Fucking..." He growled and pulled out his phone. He dialed Kida and told her to get an ambulance, knowing she would get there the fastest. Magic would help. And, like he expected, it only took five minutes. He personally carried Elena out and set her onto the bed so Kida could adjust her and start doing what she could. 

John was outside the ambulance, his fist connecting with a tree. It hurt his hand, causing his knuckles to bleed. "Fucking hell..." he whispered to himself. 

Rosie's car pulled up, and she was quickly out of her car. Of course Stefan was with her. "Damon!" She exclaimed softly and hurried over to him, hugging him around his middle for comfort. Stefan looked into the ambulance and felt his stomach twist. He felt sick, but he knew his mother needed comfort. He walked over to her and hugged her, too.

Damon followed his father to where his mother called, and froze at the door frame. Elena, she looked... He turned his face and look down, to scared to think about what he saw. He looked at his father through his eyelashes, he didn't like when he got angry, and he didn't like either when his mother cried like that. He stayed on his corner and sent a message to Rosie... Come here, ASAP

Marina craddled Elena the best she could onto her arms, she turned her gaze to John as he walked in... A lot of feels crossed her brown eyes, but the feel of loss was pretty clear. She had felt it once, thinking she was losing Stefan, and now, her baby girl? When the ambulance arrived, she gently moved Elena into John's arms, and followed them outside. Her whole body was trembling, and if it wasn't for Stefan, she would had fallen on her knees. ''Thank you'', she whispered as she wrapped her arms around his middle, and winced at the sound of John punching the tree. ''John...'', she murmured, and leaned one hand towards him... As much she was angry at him for leaving Elena alone, she also needed him... Elena was their daughter after all.

Damon followed them, a few steps behind. He was feeling pretty lost, but then everything changed when he saw Rosie. She was his safe haven and if she was there him, he knew he could go through anything if he had her by his side. Ian was fast on getting into the ambulance. He paled a bit seeing what exactly was the emergency... ''Mom, I can help'', he said firmly, standing by her side. ''Just tell me what I have to do''

John shook his head, not going near Marina right now. "Just... Let him get his anger out," Stefan sighed as he rubbed her back. He knew his father had some anger issues. He was used to dealing with Arianne's bursts of anger. "Elena will be okay..." He whispered into her ear. Of course he was shaking. But, he had gotten stronger. He had to. For Ian. For everyone. 

Rosie hugged Damon close and looked up at him, her golden hues searching his face for a moment before offering him a small, sad smile. "You should be glad I drive like my mom at times," She mumbled, referring to how quickly she'd been able to get from their house here. 

Kida swallowed the lump in her throat and looked towards Ian. She knew this was over Christian. Guilt had her hands shaking, making it hard for her to work like she should. "Just... work on the baby. Keep her heart beating," she said quietly. "Marina!" She called over. "We're taking her in..." She said, her eyes expressing how sorry she was, but also that she was determined to save her daughter. She pulled the ambulance doors shut and tapped on the glass, telling the driver to go. 

John swallowed down his anger long enough to move over to the car and pull the door open. "We'll take mom," Stefan said firmly. John pursed his lips and nodded, not saying a word as he got into his car and sped off after the ambulance. Stefan could take better care of his mother right now than his father could. He helped her over into the back of the car and nodded for Rosie and Damon to come on. He cradled Marina's head against his shoulder and kept his arms around her. 

Rosie gently tugged Damon to the car and got into the drivers side. She followed closely after her uncle.

When it was all cleared up, Kida had Elena hooked up to IV's, pushing fluids into her veins. She touched the girls stomach and sighed in relief that the baby was still okay. After pumping the pills out of Elena's stomach, she knew the fluids would help. She kissed the top of Ian's head, giving him a silent thank you for being helpful. Oliver stood beside Elena's bed, holding one of her hands, obvious concern laced across his face. He brought her hand up and kissed her knuckles before setting it back down and looking over to the window where the others were waiting. John was pacing in the hallway. 

Kida gestured for them to come inside and cleared her throat. "She's... stable. The baby is okay. We pumped her stomach, removing the pills she swallowed... However, I cannot be sure of the long term effects the combination of pills and alcohol in her system for over an hour will have on the baby. Hopefully it's nothing serious... I'm sorry we couldn't get there sooner," she said gently. John closed his eyes and sat into the chair near the bed, holding his head as he hunched over.

Marina staggered a bit into Stefan's arms. She got scared, for her daughter, for her husband, and his anger. She his her face on her son's chest, and closed her eyes when her sobbs headed to an end. She needed to stay calm, Kida was there with her, she was going to help them.

Damon looked into his favorite golden hues and pursed his lips, his expression lost in fear. He looked around and saw his father angry, and his hand was bleeding, on the other side his mother was looking so sad, and as scared as him. He said nothing, and wrapped his arms around her waist, hidding his face onto her curled hair.

Ian put his hand upon his mother's shoulder and squeezed it softly, making her aware that he was there supporting her. He nodded and did as his mother told him. He put his hands upon Elena's stomach and closed his eyes as he searched for any harming substance into her body. Once he learned it, the young witch focused on keeping those away from the baby while they headed to the hospital.

Marina opened her eyes and looked to Kida. The brunette nodded and watched while they took her daughter away. She trusted Kida... She trusted hers and her family's life into her hands. She looked towards John, not sure if he should drive by himself... She looked up to Stefan as he assured she was going with him, and as she looked back to John, he was already taking off behind the ambulance. She sighed and let Stefan help her on getting into the car. Damon turned his emerald hues to Stefan, and nodded before following Rosie into the car.

Ian stayed by the side of Elena's bed and checked her vital signs at the machine. He was a bit tired, for making such strong protection spell, but at the same time he was happy... Happy for saving his niece's life. The baby was going to be okay, he believe that. He watched the way Oliver looked worried about the girl lying on the bed, and he remembered how his mother was shaking for a moment back at the ambulance. He knew the reason of those things... His twin. Ian was torned about how to feel... Sometimes, he could swear his brother was alive, even being there at his funeral, but the feeling of emptness and the certain everyone would call him delusional made him hide it from everyone, even from Stefan.

He closed his eyes at the touch of his mother's kiss, and watched while the others walked in. Marina got anxious with the lack of news about Elena, and Damon looked pretty nervous being into the hospital, ''I don't like hospitals'', he mumbled only to Rosie. Marina walked in right behind John, and kept Stefan by her side. Marina bit nervously as she listened to Kida's words, and gave the other woman a small smile once Kida her daughter would be safe. Marina was sure Kida didn't know how grateful she was for her saving Elena. She let go of Stefan's hand and pulled Kida into a hug, ''Thank you Kida'', she murmured, not able to hold the tears anymore. ''You're an angel to this family. I own you so much...'', she sobbed.

Ian turned his blue hues to Stefan and made his way to him. ''She's going to be fine... Our niece too'', he assured to him softly after pulling Stefan into his arms. Damon stood next to the door. He counted the number of people inside the room, and realized there were too many people. He looked at his father and got sad, he wanted to be closer to him, and his hand was still bleeding, maybe he was in pain too... ''Dad... He's sad'', he murmured to Rosie.

Kida smiled a bit and nodded, hugging Marina back and kissing the side of her head affectionately. "I'm just glad I can help," She murmured and shook her head. "You don't owe me a thing. Family is family," she said with a small smile.

Stefan wrapped his arms around Ian and hugged him close, finally letting his fear for his sister come out. He nuzzled his head close to his neck and let out a shaky breath. He was getting better at the whole 'strong' thing. "I love you," He murmured, thankful that Ian had been there. 

Rosie looked up to Damon and gave him a small smile. She knew he hated hospitals. She'd known that the last time she had been in the hospital in a similar (and not so similar) situation. However, as she looked to her Uncle, her eyes grew concerned. If anything, Rosie took on Belle's side before she'd been exposed to the outside world.  The compassionate, quiet, protective girl. So, she gently tugged Damon with her as she went over and took the seat before John. "Uncle John?" She asked gently, her hand resting on his bicep lightly. He glanced at her from the corner of his eye and pursed his lips. He wiped at his eye with his arm and gave her a short-lived smile. "Hey, baby girl," He mumbled. She gave him a sad smile and took his hand -- the hurt one. She healed the broken fingers and cleared the blood with tenderness. "There... All better," she said and gave his hand a small squeeze. He sighed and leaned over, kissing the top of her head and murmuring a small thank you. 

Then, he shifted his blue gaze onto Damon. "Hey, Dame," He said softly, his anger from before ebbing as he was exposed to these two. Rosie was partly to blame for that -- she was using a  calming spell on the entire room, but mostly here with her Uncle. Her mom had taught her to do that since day one. She'd been told her Uncle's anger wasn't something to play around with. So, she didn't take chances.

Marina pursed her lips and shook her head. Kida had no idea of how much Marina was grateful for that. She had saved not one, but two of her children, she would be in debt forever for it. ''Thank you'', she murmured softly as she started to get calm. ''Do you have any idea of when she's going to wake up?''

Ian smoothed Stefan's head and back, and kissed the side of his head softly. ''I love you too'', he whispered lightly. He could tell Stefan was finnaly letting his fear out. He was deeply grateful for Stefan being around when he needed the most, now it was his turn to support. He felt the spell Rosie was making, and if he wasn't so tired, he would have helped her. He looked around and spotted Oliver. The boy had helped a lot after Elena got into the hospital. He smiled sadly at him and turned his gaze towards the girl upon the bed.

Damon took Rosie's hand and followed her. He stood up by Rosie's side and watched while they talked. He had just heard of his father's past, but he knew there would be a good reason for Damon getting very scared when his father was angry. He looked to his mother briefly, he hadn't told her he knew the secret, maybe she could help him undestand this irracional fear. He placed his hand upon Rosie's shoulder and smiled as she worked on the spell. He was getting calm, and he could tell his father was getting calm too. ''Hey, daddy'', Damon said softly, with a small smile, and wrapped his hand around his father's now healed hand.

Kida shrugged her shoulders and sighed. "She could wake up soon, or in a week. It just depends," She said gently and rubbed her arm lightly. "I'm sorry I can't wake her up for you," she apologized gently. 

Stefan nodded and hugged him close. He wanted him to be close. He didn't like being away from Ian for long, but at the same time, he wasn't one to hold him back from doing his job. He knew Ian was working hard. "I've been looking at apartments," he murmured, gently tugging Ian to small couch in the room. He sat down and leaned against Ian's side. Oliver returned the small sad smile and sighed heavily, sitting against the side of the bed and trying to use what magic he had to wake Elena. 

John gave Damon's hand a small squeeze and gave a small smile. "Sorry to scare you," he mumbled, seeing the fear that Damon had gone through obvious in his eyes. "How's the living on your own been going?" He asked, changing the subject lightly.

Everyone remained silent when Elena opened her eyes. Ian turned his bright blue hues and held Stefan closer. Damon and Marina held their breaths. She hurried to stay by her daughter's side and looked intently at her. Damon looked from Elena to his father and pursed his lips lightly before giving a gentle squeeze on his father's hand.

Elena's vision was blurried, she first looked to Oliver, who was standing by her side, then, she looked abck to her father. Her mind was slow, but she was certain of one thing, she was alive. Her plan didn't work as she wished. She blinked a few more times, her vision now clear and she couldn't hold the tears as she looked to her father again, ''I'm so sorry, dad... I'm a terrible person, I know!'', she murmured with a light voice and suddenly she started sobbing against the pillow.
